Speaker: David B. Marino Principal & Executive Vice President at Irving Hughes

At the San Diego Chapter of FENG we strive to provide useful and meaningful presentations that help our members stay abreast of current, local and national changes in various industries and sectors. In December, we held a very successful evening event at the UCSD Faculty Club that provided useful insights into the residential real estate in San Diego and around the country. Many of the attendees followed up with questions on the commercial real estate market since commercial real estate is often an important leading economic indicator. The best way to respond to these questions is to bring in a true expert. So, we have invited Dave Marino to our next monthly meeting to share his insights.

Many of you already know Dave but, for those who don't, you should. Dave is one of the most well-connected and well-respected professionals in San Diego. As an early stage angel investor and venture capitalist, as well as a premier commercial real estate broker, Dave is among the first to hear of FENG-caliber job opportunities, and he has provided, and continues to provide, many job leads for senior financial executives in San Diego. In addition to forwarding valuable job leads, Dave has also been a huge supporter of our FENG chapter since its inception over six years ago, and has personally financially underwritten every one of our evening events over the years.

Whether you're personally interested in learning what's going on with commercial real estate, or you're debating the best way to approach leases as companies review their income statements, or you're simply interested in meeting Dave, you'll benefit from joining us at this meeting.

During the presentation, we'll discuss:
  • How long will the market stay a "tenants" market?
  • What leasing strategies can be deployed in this soft market?
  • Is it best to sign long or short term leases?
  • Is it the right time to buy a building rather than leasing?
  • What are some of the landmines to look for in picking a landlord?
