CFO’s: You’ve Recently Been Put in Charge of IT Now What?

In recent years, more and more CFO’s find themselves in charge of IT departments of their respective companies. The trend is catching many of us unprepared. If you are suddenly responsible for managing IT or anticipate you may be in this position in the future, come to our meeting and discover the basic principles of running the IT department effectively.

During our December meeting we will discuss essential functions of an IT organization, how to handle the transitional period of change of control, whom to talk to and what questions to ask, and how to achieve a variety of objectives in improving IT services for your company.

As companies are trying to become more efficient, an integral part of that process is the ability to align operations with corporate goals. The IT department is crucial in accomplishing that.  The responsibility for the process can and often does fall upon the Chief Financial Officer.

Yuri will host an interactive presentation that will identify the basic steps to follow in the event of being handed the task of running an IT department in conjunction with all the other financial and management responsibilities that a CFO has.

During the presentation, we will discuss:

1.      How have IT departments evolved in recent years?

2.      What are the functions of the IT department and their importance to the company as a whole?

3.      What defines the size and the role of the IT department within a company?

4.      When and how to explore outsourcing or insourcing of the IT department?

5.      How do you best communicate objectives, and how do you measure progress?

We expect the meeting to be highly interactive.  Bring your openness, curiosity, attention and any questions relevant to the future possibility – or current reality – of finding yourself in charge of IT.
